Credentials: Literature degree from Antioch College. Past Peer Program Intern for HIFY. Off Site Sex Educator for Good Vibrations.
Hobbies: painting, sewing, reading, daydreaming
Why Is She Here? Tina loves talking about health, anti-oppression, and popular education (and loves playing ice breakers!)

 




Name: Cassandra Benton
Position Title: Health Educator/ Trainer
Credentials: Cassie has been working with HIFY since 2005, and since then has presented over 133 workshops, reaching over 1,550 youth. She received over 70 hours of intensive training on Health and Youth Development, Latin@s Health and Youth Development, Positive Sexuality, Working with LGBT youth, Substance Use and Youth, and Harm Reduction
Hobbies: Reading romance novels, blowing bubbles, and catching up with friends in her spare time.
Why is she here?: Cassie enjoys the works she does with youth, believing that she's building up her community, learning new skills and making friends along the way.

 




Name: Sheena Castrejon
Position Title: Bilingual Health Educator
Credentials: Sheena attended MetWest High School, where she learned about youth development through internships. She will soon be taking classes at Alameda College. Before being employed as a Bilingual Health Educator, Sheena worked with HIFY for two years as a Peer Health Educator. She has also worked with Women Organized to Respond to Life Threatening Disease (WORLD).
Hobbies: Being a mother, playing tennis, learning, and teaching.
Why is she at HIFY? Sheena is at HIFY because she believes in empowering youth to make better choices than the ones she has made. She believes that adults could help youth by communicating with them in their own language, and by being open on important health topics.

 




Name: Carnelius Quinn
Position Title: Program Manager
Credentials: Double BA in Sociology and Theatre from SFSU
Hobbies: Dancing, Singing, Live Theatre, Anything in nature, good and bad movies, and doing nothing as long as it's with the right people!
Why is He Here? Carnelius came to HIFY in the Spring of 2006, to coordinate the first ever Youth Track component of the biennial California Adolescent Health Conference. HE came to the organization full-time in January of 2007 to train and support HIFY's Oakland-based Peer Health Education team. He since has grown with the organization to lead curriculum development and provide technical assistance to Bay Area youth programs. Carnelius currently sits on the Equity Advisory Committee of the San Francisco Human Rights Commission.   Carnelius is honored to support the next generation of Bay Area leadership, and bring attention to young people's perceptions of and experiences with health.  

 

Name: Rey Estevez
Position Title: Bilingual Health Educator Credentials : Over 6 years of professional experience in the San Francisco Bay Area in the areas of education and social justice. California High School Proficiency Certificate. Graduating from Community Health Worker certificate program at City College of San Francisco in Spring 2010. Completing A.A. degree at City College of San Francisco in Fall 2010 and transferring to San Francisco State University to study Psychology.
Hobbies : Writing rhymes, playing soccer, participating in Soka Gakkai International Buddhist activities and reading books.
Why Is He Here? To help improve the health of youth in San Francisco and the Bay Area by helping empower them to make the right choices for themselves regarding their health and well being. I want to help foster leaders for the 21 st century!
