Our Provider's Guides

In our Adolescent Provider's Guides we pair an extensive resource directory to local adolescent and young adult services with information on topics important to people who work with youth, such as Medi-Cal, mandatory reporting guidelines, and how to navigate the juvenile justice system. We currently have the 2003-2004 edition for San Francisco County as well as our 2006/2007 Alameda County Adolescent Provider's Guide!!!

Our Survival Guides

Walk Like a Warrior: A Young Man's Survival Guide is a comprehensive reality-based publication written by and for young men. This book explores what it means to be a man, how this affects the choices young men make, and their unique needs regarding their health and well-being.

Unfortunately, we have run out of copies of Walk Like a Warrior. We are looking for some funding to reprint the book, so keep checking back for updates.

In 1998, HIFY published the first ever Thrive Guide, a survival manual for young people newly diagnosed as HIV+. While the treatment information should no longer stand on its own, much of the emotional territory it covers remains starkly relevant.
